What a remodeler website costs in the Chicago suburbs in 2026

By Krystian Swierk, Kreate Vision, Palatine IL

A Chicago-area contractor who asks three agencies for a quote can get three very different numbers. Three Chicago agencies publish a price on their own site. Contractor Site Design charges $999 flat, Seven Seas Web Design charges $2,500 to $7,500, and Flamingo Agency charges $3,000 to $6,000. The other seven of ten Chicago competitors we reviewed make you ask.

What Chicago agencies actually publish

We scanned 30 web design agencies across Chicago, Miami, and California on 2026-09-04. Only 10 put a dollar figure on their own site. Three of those 10 are in Chicago.

Published web design prices, Chicago and the wider field. Read 2026-09-04.

Chicago’s three published numbers sit in the middle of the national field. The floor nationally is iSatisfy’s $750 template tier. The ceiling is Black Flag Creative’s $50,000 starting point, a Los Angeles shop whose own page says its best-fit clients invest $50,000 or more.

How wide is the field, really

Ten of 30 agencies publish a number. Twenty make you call, fill out a form, or request a “free proposal” before you learn anything. That pattern held in every market we looked at, not only Chicago.

Nine of those 10 quote a one-time project fee, from $750 to $50,000. We left HacemosSuWeb’s $29.99-to-$99.99-a-month plan out of the chart below, since it’s a subscription rather than a project fee. Stacking a monthly number against one-time prices would misstate both.

Bar chart of nine published starting prices from $750 to $50,000; six of the nine sit between $750 and $3,000.

Most of that spread is not padding. It tracks real differences in what gets built, who builds it, and what you own when the project ends.

What actually moves the price

Six things separate a $999 site from a $35,000 one, based on what these 10 agencies say about their own work.

Page count and content. Contractor Site Design’s $999 covers 5 pages; an extra page is a $199 add-on. Thomas Digital’s five tiers scale from $7,000 to $35,000 by page count and revision rounds.

Template or hand-built. Most of the field runs on WordPress with a page builder like Elementor. A stock template costs less because the agency isn’t designing a layout from nothing. Web Design Miami Company prices its template “Essential Site” at $2,495 and its custom, non-template “Signature Site” at $5,995.

Photography and copywriting. Contractor Site Design charges $349 to write your content and $249 for a logo, as separate line items. If you don’t have photos, copy, or a logo yet, that work gets added on top of whatever the base build costs.

Integrations. StraightFire’s $1,200-to-$6,000 range depends on “pages, integrations, and content support.” A booking calendar, a payment processor, or a CRM connection adds development time beyond a brochure site.

Who owns the code. Contractor Site Design states plainly that the $999 package comes with “full WordPress file ownership.” Most of the other nine don’t address ownership on the page you’d land on first, which is worth asking about directly before signing.

What hosting and maintenance add. Web Design Miami Company itemizes this separately: hosting at $150 a month, “Site Care” plans starting at $100 a month. A quote that folds a year of hosting into the build price is a different total cost than one that’s billed separately from day one.

What the $999 package actually buys

Contractor Site Design’s own page is the most itemized offer of the 10 we reviewed. For $999 flat, paid through Square, a contractor gets a 5-page WordPress site built from one of six trade templates. It’s customized with the business’s logo, colors, and content, live in 5 business days, with full file ownership. Basic on-page SEO, a contact form, Google Maps integration, and SSL setup are included, plus one round of revisions.

Everything past that is an itemized add-on: an extra page is $199, a logo is $249, and a blog is $149. Local SEO Starter (Google Business Profile optimization, schema, directory listings) is $299, content writing is $349, and a 72-hour rush is $299.

That’s a real, working site for a real price, stated plainly on the page. It’s also six fixed templates, which the page markets as a feature and which also means the finished site isn’t a custom design. Whether that trade-off matters depends on whether you need to look different from the next contractor using the same template.

How to compare two quotes

A page count and a dollar figure aren’t enough to compare two proposals. Ask each agency the same four questions:

  • Is this a template or a custom build, and can I see other sites built on the same template?
  • What happens to hosting and maintenance after the first year, and is that itemized or bundled?
  • Do I own the code and the domain, or does the agency control the platform?
  • Is SEO included in the build, or is it a separate line item added later?

A quote that answers all four in writing is easier to compare than one that gives you a single number and nothing else.

What this means for a Chicagoland business

We don’t publish a starting price on kreatevision.com, and we’re not adding one here to make this post tidier. Every site is scoped after one conversation about page count, content, photography, and integrations. That conversation also covers whether SEO and AEO or Meta ads are part of the engagement. The quote from that conversation is the price, and hosting and maintenance are itemized separately so nothing shows up later as a surprise line item.

What we build is hand-coded on Astro, not a page-builder template. That’s the same distinction that separates Contractor Site Design’s $999 tier from Web Design Miami Company’s $5,995 custom tier above it. You own the code. Schema and basic technical SEO ship with the build instead of arriving as a $299 add-on later.

If you’re comparing quotes for a remodeling or contracting business in the northwest suburbs, ask every agency you talk to the four questions above. We’re in Palatine, and we’ll answer them on a call before you sign anything.

See our work for what we’ve built. After launch, two things matter: whether Google shows your pages without anyone clicking them and how to redesign a site without losing your rankings. The pricing data in this post comes from our full 30-agency homepage read.

Quick answers
How much does a website cost for a contractor in Chicago?

Three Chicago agencies publish a price on their own site: Contractor Site Design charges $999 flat for a 5-page template site, Seven Seas Web Design charges $2,500 to $7,500, and Flamingo Agency charges $3,000 to $6,000. Nationally, published prices run from $750 up to a $50,000 floor for enterprise-tier work, depending on scope.

Why is the price range for a website so wide?

Price tracks page count, whether the site is a stock template or hand-built, whether content and photography already exist, how many integrations it needs, who owns the finished code, and whether hosting and maintenance are itemized or bundled. Two sites with the same page count can differ by thousands of dollars once those factors are added in.

What does a $999 website actually include?

Contractor Site Design's $999 flat fee, the lowest published price we found, buys a 5-page WordPress site built from one of six trade templates, customized with your logo and content, live in 5 business days, with full file ownership. An extra page, a logo, a blog, local SEO, and rush delivery are each separate add-ons.

How do I compare two web design quotes?

Ask each agency the same four questions: is this a template or a custom build, what happens to hosting and maintenance after year one, do I own the code and domain, and is SEO included in the build or billed separately later. A quote that answers all four in writing is easier to compare than a single number by itself.
